PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Thursday inaugurated the digitisation of police human resource management system under which the details of over 70,000 personnel were digitised.

He directed the authorities concerned to strengthen police force in the tribal districts and assured them that provincial government would provide all resources for the purpose.

On this occasion, the chief minister also inaugurated filing of e-roznamcha or daily diary and digitisation of FIRs.

Now both the FIRs and daily diary can be shared with the applicants through email or WhatsApp.

Talking to reporters, he said that the initiatives were a step towards the digital Pakistan vision. He appreciated the performance of police and said that the department would continue to strive towards excellence and innovation.

Mr Khan directed the authorities concerned to strengthen police force in tribal districts and assured them that provincial government would provide all resources to them for the purpose.

He was briefed about the performance of police department and steps taken to strengthen policing in merged districts. He was informed that police regularised Levies and Khasadar personnel while more than 9,000 special police personnel were also absorbed into the department.

The chief minister was informed that dispute resolution councils were activated in all tribal districts. The meeting was also briefed about the establishment of model police stations.

Mr Khan was informed that total number of police stood at 109,556 out of which 70,372 were regular police; 2,500 special security unit; 9,700 special police force; 9,978 Levies; and 16,997 Khasadar force in the merged districts. The meeting was informed that in 2019, police recovered 21,833 kilograms of hashish, 1,022 kilograms of heroin, 836 kilograms of opium and 114 kilograms of ice.

Mr Khan was informed that during January, 2,310 offenders were arrested. Similarly, a total of 70 cases were registered against land grabbers and 252 persons were charged and 236 were arrested.

Meanwhile, about 226 police personnel of different grades were promoted to next grades on the direction of IGP Dr Sanaullah Abbasi.

A statement issued here said that Dr Abbasi directed the regional police officers to resolve all pending promotion cases within a week. It said that all RPOs held meetings of departmental promotion committees, wherein promotion of 404 police personnel to next grades was approved.

It said that 226 constables were promoted as head constables, 59 head constables as assistant sub inspectors (ASI) and 119 ASIs as inspectors.

The statement said that capital city police Peshawar promoted 75 constables as head constables, 59 constables as ASIs and 37 ASI as inspectors.
