LAKKI MARWAT: Police foiled an attempt by militants to enter a checkpost located near the Kinger Bridge in Bannu district on Monday night.
An official said that a group of militants attacked the police checkpost in a bid to breach the building.
“They used light and heavy weapons, but an effective and quick response by policemen deployed there foiled their attempt, forcing them to fee” he said.
The official said the law enforcers remained safe in the attack.
It was the second attack on police installations in Bannu division as police had repulsed an attack on a post in Lakki city in the wee hours on Monday.
On Tuesday, Bannu district police officer Ziauddin Ahmed visited the Kinger Bridge checkpost and met cops there.
He appreciated the cops for their quick action against the militant attack and said the police would eliminate the menace with the support of people. He said such cowardly attacks could not shatter the police’s strong resolve to wipe out militancy.
