MULTAN: An inquiry committee probing into the allegations of sexual harassment of a female audit officer has held a senior audit officer and an assistant audit officer of Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) guilty.

A two-member inquiry committee probed allegations of harassment against eight Mepco audit officials, and of them six were declared innocent, while Iqbal and Haji Muhammad failed to defend the charge. Iqbal was served charge sheet on Oct 28, 2019 and the report was submitted to the authorities concerned on Jan 13 this year.

The report says Iqbal, deputy chief auditor, generated fake reports and resorted tactics to implicate the female official in official inquiries, with the help of Haji, when she refused to have an affair with him.

The Federal Investigation Agency’s cybercrime cell is also conducting investigations against certain Mpeco officials into the allegations of harassment, threatening and blackmailing a female employee of the company besides hacking her cell phone data.
