RAWALPINDI: Punjab government will start training officials of Rawalpindi city and cantonment administration so they can control dengue in their respective areas.

Punjab Secretary (Health) retired Capt Mohammad Usman and other officials will brief the district and cantonment boards of Rawalpindi and Chaklala personnel on the revised Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the provincial government on how to prevent dengue virus.

District Health Authority Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Mohammad Suhail told Dawn that Divisional Commissioner retired Capt Mohammad Mehmood, Station Commander Brig Ijaz Qamar Kiani and all senior officials had been invited to the inaugural session.

He added that training would be held for two days and the officials would be informed about how to work in an anti-dengue drive.

He said the government changed previous SOPs after the dengue outbreak in Rawalpindi in 2019 and it has decided to launch work from February to clear all union councils and wards of cantonment from dengue larvae.
