KARACHI: Moosaji You­suf Hafesji, former Edition in Charge of Dawn Gujarati, has recently passed away in London, his family said on Tuesday. He was 94.

Also known as Deepak Bardolikar, Hafesji was born in November 1925 in Bardoli, India. His family said that after partition he migrated to Pakistan in 1948-49 and started working as a journalist. During his decades-long career he remained associated with Daily Vatan, Millat and Dawn Gujarati to become one of the most known journalists in the Gujarati community. He started working for Dawn Gujarati in December 1966 as junior subeditor and retired from the organisation as Edition in Charge, Dawn Gujarati in October 1989. In 1990 Hafesji migrated to the UK to stay with his son till his death on Dec 12.

He was suffering from liver cancer for the past three months. He was also a known Gujarati author and poet, who had written over 30 books in Gujarati.
