KOHAT: Adviser to the chief minister on education, MPA Ziaullah Bangash, who is also chairman of the district development advisory committee, has directed the officials to submit the delayed PC-1s of the drains, streets, schools and water supply schemes within a week.

Chairing a meeting on Wednesday, he said he wanted early completion of all the schemes.

He asked the SNGPL chief engineer to address the problem of low gas pressure. He also took strong exception to closure of children evening OPD at the Liaquat Memorial Hospital, and asked the medical superintendent to arrange a child specialist in the evening.

He also asked the Pesco officials to curb power outages and observe a proper schedule of loadshedding.

RESORT LACKS FACILITIES: The tourists visiting the Tanda Dam resort here have complained about absence of a park, hotels, paragliding and boating facilities, and most importantly, the drinking water.

Uzair, a visitor from Rawalpindi, said the place was scenically beautiful, but complained there were no arrangements for their night stay.

The tourists from Lahore said the road to the Tanda Dam was very narrow, and they could not find drinking water. They said if parks were established and hotels constructed the tourist resort could become the best place for the families.

Iqbal Khan, a local elder and former nazim, said the resort witnessed great rush of visitors at the weekends, Eid days and on Fridays. He said the 12-foot wide road had been carpeted with a cost of Rs100 million, but added it would have been better if the road was further broadened by cutting the nearby mountain.

SEMINAR: Deputy commissioner Matiullah Khan, while speaking at a seminar held in connection with the International Human Rights Day at the Kohat University of Science and Technology on Wednesday, termed the Kashmir issue unfinished agenda of the partition.

He demanded that India immediately halt atrocities in Kashmir and honour human rights.

Students presented songs and speeches on the issue of human rights violations in IHK.

Vice-Chancellor Jameel Ahmed, faculty and members of civil society and officials were in attendance.

DC Matiullah urged the UN to help resolve the dispute in accordance with its resolutions.
