SIALKOT: Unidentified armed motorcyclists shot dead a local senior lawyer in front of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Paris Road here on Wednesday.

Lawyer Sajjad Ahmed Dhadra was on his way to his chamber on district courts premises by his car when the armed motorcyclists opened fire on him, leaving him dead on the spot.

After the attack, the attackers fled away.

Following the incident, a large number of lawyers gathered on the spot and staged a protest demonstration there against the brutal murder.

District and Sessions Judge (DSJ) Chaudhry Tariq Javaid and District Police Officer retired Capt Mustansar Feroze also reached the spot and inspected crime scene.

They assured the protesting lawyers of early arrest of the killers.

Police shifted the dead body to the Government Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot for an autopsy.

Meanwhile, the lawyers in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur observed strike against the incident.

The district bar association (DBA) also held a meeting where lawyers strongly condemned the murder of their senior colleague.

They unanimously passed a resolution demanding early arrest of the killers. The DBA has also announced two-day mourning.

As per initial investigations, police said old enmity could be the reason behind the murder.

Local police officials said they had got the close circuit TV (CCTV) cameras footage of the incident.
Police said raids were being conducted at various places for arrest of the killers.
