HARIPUR: Provincial minister for communication and works Akbar Ayub Khan has said a plan has been devised to address the complaints of water shortage in urban areas of Haripur.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of a new water schemefor Mohallah Motiyan here on Monday, the minister said the sinking of six tubewells was under way, while a pipeline was being laid from Thanda Choha to the city to ensure smooth supply of drinking water for three decades.

He said the Mohallah Motiyan tubewell would benefit Mohallah Motiyan, New Abadi, District Secretariat, Mohallah Qadeem, Rehmania Town and Mohallah New Sabzi Mandi.

The minister said old pipelines would be replaced in few months to supply safe water to residents.

He said initial work on the beautification of Haripur city was under way.

The minister said work on Haripur Bypass Road, Haripur-Islamabad Road via Lora Makhniyal, Tarnava Kohala Road, Farooqia Dual Carriage Road, Women and Children’s Hospital, upgradation of DHQ Hospital, was in progress.

He said the successful execution of those projects would improve living conditions in Haripur.
