SWABI: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial chairman Sikandar Hayat Sherpao said that the PTI government tarnished the image of country in the comity of nations by committing serious mistakes.

Addressing a protest demonstration at Karnal Sher Khan Chowk here on Thursday, he said that continued drama in Islamabad was the result of the mistakes committed at high level by the government.

The protest was held against government for its failure to control the prices of essential commodities, hike in power tariff and victimisation of leaders of opposition parties.

The QWP leaders including its district chief Masood Jabar also addressed the protest. They condemned desecration of the Holy Quran in Norway.

“It was a slap on the government’s face when the chief justice said during hearing of army chief’s extension case that an assistant commissioner was not appointed in such a way,” Sikandar Sherpao told this scribe after the protest.

Sikandar Sherpao demands resignation of PM and fresh polls

He said that it manifested that government was incompetent. “How such government can deliver,” he questioned.

He added that people were perturbed.

Mr Sikandar said that keeping in mind the government performance and policies, there was no hope for betterment. “Let me ask the PTI leaders where the government is and where is the change,” he asked.

The QWP leader said that the entire nation rejected the government policies and came to know that PTI assumed power through engineered elections. “There is need of fresh and transparent elections,” he added.

He said that the country and its people would face more hardships if PTI continued to remain in power.

“The better option is resignation of Prime Minister Imran Khan and fresh elections,” he added.

The show-cause notices were issued to the presidents and general secretaries of Swabi and Topi tehsils besides two former election candidates of the party. Senator Sitara Ayaz and Mohammad Islam, former district general secretary, have already been expelled from the party.

The ANP provincial leaders are expected to meet in Peshawar soon to make a decision this regard.
