KARACHI, Aug 9: Provincial Minister for Sports Qamar Mansoor on Tuesday said hockey and football stadiums of international standards would be constructed in New Karachi for the promotion of sports activities in the area.

He was speaking as a chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony of All-Karachi Nazar Hussain memorial football tournament on Monday. The sports minister added that in District West five football grounds would be made grassy and work to reconstruct Hussain Football Club ground would also be undertaken.

He said flood-light system in the ground would also be provided in the stadiums. The minister hailed the organizers for their efforts in holding the tournament and assured all out assistance from the Sports Department of Government of Sindh.

Appreciating the holding of the tournament, he called for organizing such tournaments in other parts of the city. Earlier, Sindh Football Club (Gazri) defeated strong opponent Korangi Rangers by 3-1 and won the final.—APP
