NBP announces cash reward for cueist Asif

KARACHI: Cueist Mohammad Asif holds his World Snooker trophy as he is seen with NBP President Arif Usmani, Sports Head Iqbal Qasim and other officials on Tuesday.

KARACHI: President National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Arif Usmani on Tuesday announced a reward of Rs 750,000 for renowned cueist Mohammad Asif who recently won the IBSF World Snooker Championship in Antalya, Turkey.

Arif, while presenting the reward, to Asif lauded his tremendous achievement. “It is an honour for me to meet the world champion today. His (Asif’s) achievement is a great one indeed and coincides with the 70th anniversary of NBP, making this day a very important occasion indeed.”

“NBP has always been at the forefront in supporting and promoting sports in Pakistan and the sportspersons working with us have earned many laurels for the country,” he added. “NBP has supported snooker for more than eleven years now which is a matter of great pride for us.”

Former Test spinner and Sports Head NBP Iqbal Qasim also spoke on the occasion and congratulated Asif for his magnificent feat in the world event. Also present were SEVP Tariq Jamali, Group Head Shaukat Khattak, Azmatullah Khan, Anwar Faruqi and Shehzad Kaleemi.
