NOWSHERA: A mentally ill son of late Pakhtun nationalist leader Ajmal Khattak stabbed his sister to death and injured his mother at their residence in Akora Khattak here on Friday.

Police said that Mirwas Khattak, son of late Ajmal Khattak and younger brother of Aimal Khattak, stabbed his elder sister Dureshawar, wife of Jamil Khattak, with a sharp weapon who died on the spot.

Mirwas also injured his mother when she tried to save her daughter.

Family sources said that Mirwas had psycho problems and his condition was so bad that the family members had decided to admit him to a mental hospital, but the ill-fated sister resisted the move.

They said that Dureshawar was killed when she visited her parents’ home to enquire after her brother.

Soon after the incident the body was brought to the district headquarters hospital, Nowshera, for autopsy. The funeral prayers were held in Akora Khattak. Jamil Khattak registered an FIR while police have arrested Mirwas.
