KARACHI: The Sindh government is planning to establish a history museum and cultural centre in Karachi with the collaboration of the Citizens Archive of Pakistan (CAP).

This emerged during a meeting held here on Thursday.

The meeting, presided over by Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, was attended among others by Commissioner of Karachi Iftikhar Ahmed Shallwani and two-time Academy Award-winning film-maker and patron-in-chief of CAP Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy.

The chief secretary said the museum and cultural centre would aim to engage citizens with interactive and special exhibits centred on Pakistan’s history with sections dedicated to Sindh and the city of Karachi.

Ms Obaid-Chinoy stated that the museum would showcase numerous stories of Pakistan’s culture and history using rich archival content such as photographs, newspaper articles, personal letters, firsthand audio accounts and state-of-the-art learning. There would be sections related to the birth of Pakistan, history of Sindh, Karachi and children.
