SWABI: A man shot dead his wife and later committed suicide here on Saturday night, police said.

The incident occurred in Baja village in the limits of Swabi city police station.

SHO Nural Amin told Dawn that soon after the incident they reached the house of the victims and found the man and his wife lying in a pool of blood in their room.

He said the preliminary investigations revealed that the cause of the incident was strained relations between the couple.

Registering FIR the mother of the man told police that they had frequently clashed with each other, and brawled again at the night of the incident.

She said that after hearing the gunshots she rushed to their room and found them lying in a pool of blood.

Meanwhile, a man identified as Rahim Khan of Pabbin village of Gadoon Amazai region was shot dead by his cousins near his home. The killers escaped the scene.

The police registered FIR against Afsar Khan and Qadar Khan and started further investigations.

In another development, three people were injured when a bike and a van collided near Sanakhel on Topi-GIK Institute Road. The injured were taken to the tehsil headquarters hospital.
