KARACHI, Aug 6: Police baton-charged a rally of the action committee for contract teachers on Saturday. The rally began from the Karachi Press Club and tried to march towards the Chief Minister’s House.

Participants of the rally were demanding that the commission-passed contract teachers of Sindh should be regularized.

When the rally reached Zaibunnisa Street, a heavy contingent of police stopped it from marching towards the CM House.

The protestors chanted slogans against the government and tried to break the cordon of the police.

On this, the police resorted to baton charge and arrested the leader of teachers’ action committee and SNP Chief Amir Bhanbro, General Secretary Dilshad Bhutto, M Asgar Khan and others.—PPI
