Faisalabad stun Lahore to win inter-division basketball event

SARGODHA: Provincial Minister Ansar Majeed Niazi hands over the winner’s trophy to Faisalabad Division basketball team here on Wednesday.

SARGODHA: Faisalabad Division stunned the formidable Lahore Division basketball team by 78-75 in the nerve-fraying final here on Wednesday to win the Inter-Divisional A-Grade Basketball Championship in front of a packed crowd.

Faisalabad team displayed brilliant game to dethrone Lahore after 15 long years of successive domination in the inter-division event.

The championship was organized by Sargodha Basketball Association under the auspices of Pakistan Basketball Federation.

In the third position match, Islamabad overcame stiff challenge from Peshawar Division to win 70-69.

Ansar Majeed Niazi, Provincial Minister Punjab for Labour and Human Resource, was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the prizes among teams and players. PBF secretary Khalid Bashir and KBBA president Ghulam Mohammad were also present on the occasion.
