LAHORE: Scores of employees of the Lahore General Hospital, including nurses and young doctors, staged a rally on Ferozepur Road on Wednesday against the Medical Teaching Institutions (MTI) Ordinance.

They blocked the road for traffic for an hour or so at around 12:15pm, throwing traffic out of gear.

The protesters also staged sit-in at the main entrance of the hospital and continued their agitation, pressing the Punjab government to accept their legitimate demands.

The rally was organised under the banner of the Grand Health Alliance.

Earlier in the morning, the young doctors took a round of the hospital, closed down many services, including diagnostic facilities, operation theatres and OPD, to make sure participation of a maximum number of employees to make the protest successful.

Addressing the sit-in, the leaders of the young doctors, paramedics and nurses announced that they would continue their agitation against the MTI Ordinance.
