KOHAT: A watchman of a girls school in Lachi tehsil has been arrested for torturing and damaging the eye of a student.

A video had become viral a few days ago showing the face of a 5th grade girl studying in Darwezi girls school with a swollen left eye and injured ear.

According to the uncle of the victim, the watchman of the school had beaten up her niece, Sidra. Later, the police registered the case against the watchman under the Child Protection Act and sent him to lock-up.

MPA Ziaullah Bangash, who is also the adviser to the chief minister on education, while taking serious notice of the brutal act, suspended the watchman, whereas deputy commissioner Matiullah Khan has ordered departmental inquiry against him.
