TOBA TEK SINGH: A rickshaw driver allegedly attempted to rape a minor girl at Gojra on Saturday.

A first information report (FIR) registered on the complaint of Sajida Bano of Al-Faiz Society said her four-year-old granddaughter was getting pick and drop facility for her private school in Madni Town by rickshaw driver Waqas Sohail.

On Saturday, the driver took the child to a deserted place near Bilal Town after closure of her school instead of bringing her home and attempted to rape her there. When the child raised alarm, the people rushed to her rescue. The suspect managed to escape on his rickshaw.

ARRESTED: Pirmahal police have arrested more than 50 suspects mostly belonging to gypsy families for probe into kidnapping of two minor cousins, Aroosha, 4, and Abdul Hanan, 3, of a jeweller family of Makkah Block of Pirmahal.

The children went missing on Wednesday. District Police Officer Waqar Shoaib Qureshi said he himself was supervising the investigation into the incident. He hoped the police would recover the kidnapped children soon.
