Weekly payment

Published September 19, 2019

I HAVE a suggestion that if implemented will go a long way in making the life of the common citizen particularly the salaried class easier.

In the prevalent system, salaried people are left with little money in the last week of the month. The federal and provincial governments should come up with a plan where employees are paid their salaries on a fortnightly instead of monthly basis. This practice will help citizens meet their obligations like the payment of utility bills and other needs.

In most developed countries, salaries are paid on a fortnightly basis and in some cases on a weekly basis. I am sure a similar set up can be introduced in Pakistan. An administrative committee should be set up to consider this proposal.
