KARACHI, Aug 2: The President of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, Sindh, and MNA, Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, on Tuesday condemned the withdrawal of government security guards from MMA provincial Vice-President Allama Hasan Turabi.

Mr Bhutto, in a statement, said Allama Hasan Turabi was the main leader of the MMA who was playing a vital role for eliminating religious hatred and was reducing differences between the Shia and Sunni sects.

He demanded the government to provide the said leader protection.

The MMA leader expressed fear for the life of Mr Turabi as security guards were withdrawn by the Sindh government at a time when the local bodies’ elections were going to be held in the province.

He criticized the Sindh government for withdrawing security guards from Mr Turabi and alleged that all such steps were being taken on the directives of Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Home minister Abdul Rauf Siddiqui.—PPI
