KASUR: Scores of people staged a protest demonstration against what they said the failure of the Chunian police to recover three missing minors and curb the incidence of child abduction.

The Chunian police could not find clue to three children who had been missing for the last couple of months.

The protesters blocked the Katchery Road by burning tyres and threw traffic out of gear. They were holding placards and banners and chanting slogans against police, demanding recovery of the missing children.

Muhammad Imran, 12, of Rana Town locality had been missing since June 3 while whereabouts of Ali Husnain, 9, and Suleman Akram, 8, of Ghousiabad had been unknown since Aug 8 and 17, respectively.

Police had registered separate cases.

Later, the local administration managed dispersal of the crowd by assuring them of resolving the cases.

In a later development, DPO Kasur Abdul Ghafaar Qaisrani constituted a team, headed by the DSP Chunian circle, seeking progress report within three days.
