KARACHI: Karachi Basketball Club edged Nishter Basketaball Club 59-55 in a pulsating final to lift the Inverex Trophy Invitational Basketball title at the Abdul Nasir Basketball court at Arambagh on Friday night.

Talha Amjad was declared best player of the tournament while Jazib Abbasi was named rookie of the tournament.

In this closely-fought final, main scorers for the winners were Jazib Qureshi and Zainul Abedeen who scored brilliant 19 points each while Wajih Abbasi contributed 18 valuable points.

For the losers, Talha Amjad 26 points, Muhammad Shabbar and Haroon Khan scored 17 and 10 points respectively.

Director Sports DMC South Asif Azeem was the chief guest on the occasion and gave away trophies and other prizes to players. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Chairman DMC South Fayyaz Malik is committed to promotion of sports in the DMC and will leave no stone unturned to promote sports at grass roots in the area.

Later, KBBA president Ghulam Muhammad thanked Inverex Solar Energy for supporting this grand and encouraging the youth to participate in sporting tournaments.

Shahida Parveen Kiani, Engr Mehfoozul Haq, Khalid Jameel Shamsi, International Abdul Nasir and others were also present on the occasion.
