LAKKI MARWAT: The police have arrested three persons suspected to be involved in the killing a teenage girl in Kotka Ghulam Qadir Kallay area of Naurang town, said Naurang circle DSP Iqbal Mohmand on Monday.

Speaking at press conference in Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station, he said the girl, 15, had eloped with a paramour who later returned her to her parents.

He said three relatives of the girl, including Mustafa, Hazrat Ali and Ziaullah, contacted the girl’s father and asked him to send his daughter to their home to avoid repeat of the incident in future.

However, on Sept 3, the three relatives handed over the girl’s body to her father, telling him that his daughter had committed suicide by swallowing poisonous pills, the DSP maintained.

He said that the girl’s father later took her body to hospital, where postmortem report confirmed that she had been strangled after being given poisonous pills.

The police official said they had registered a case against the killers nominated by the girl’s father in the FIR and had arrested them.

During initial interrogation, he said that the arrested men confessed to committing the murder of the girl.
