KARACHI: Pakistan Hockey Federation president retired Brig Khalid Sajjad Khokhar has presented a Rs50,000 cash award to Karachi Hockey Association Secretray Syed Haider Hussain for his hardwork and for smoothly organising the Nur Khan National Hockey Championship held in the metropolis earlier this month.

The cash reward was presented to Haider by CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah on behalf of PHF after the National Hockey Championship final.

Lauding Haider’s services, the PHF president particularly mentioned his efforts in preparing the dugout, in ensuring fine seating arrangements for the field jury and putting Allama Iqbal, Quaid-e-Azam, and Liaquat Ali Khan’s portraits at the venue in time for the tournament.

The KHA secretary also did a fine job of getting the floor renovated and installing the PHF logo at the Abdul Sattar Edhi Hockey Stadium.

Speaking after the final of the National Championship, PHF secretary Asif Bajwa said if he had a few more sincere people in hockey like Haider, it would do wonders for the game and will take Pakistan hockey to new heights.

Apart from Tournament Director, Olympian Hanif Khan, chairman of selection committee Manzoor Junior, KHA patron-in-chief retired Admiral Arifullah Hussaini and KHA chairman Gulfaraz Khan were also present on the occasion.
