LARKANA: An elderly couple and their two sons were gunned down in their house located in Yar Mohammed Kalhoro Colony of Waleed town on Saturday apparently over a matrimonial dispute.

According to officials at the Waleed police station and relatives of the bereaved family, a daughter of the couple, Bashiran Jatoi, had obtained divorce through court from Naseer Gadi a couple of years back and had been living with her parents since then.

On Saturday, a group of armed men, believed to be Gadi and his associates, barged into the couple’s house and opened indiscriminate fire on the inmates killing her father, Wali Mohammed Jatoi, 55, mother, Hajira Jatoi, 50, and two sons, Ali Murad, 27, and Nadeem, 21. Another family member, Gulzar, was seriously wounded in the attack. The assailants fled the house immediately after committing the crime.

City ASP Mohammed Kaleem Malik told Dawn that the assailants belonged to “nomads-like families” and at present they were living in the katcha area of Jamshoro district.

All the victims were taken to the Chandka Medical College Hospital where condition of Gulzar was stated to be precarious. The bodies were handed over to the heirs after medico-legal formalities.

An FIR of the incident was registered at the Waleed police station on the complaint of Amir Ali Jatoi against Naseer Gadi, Bhoral, Gul, Ahmed Ali and Chibho Gadi. A hunt for the killers was under way, the ASP said.
