Police officer shot dead in Pishin

QUETTA: A senior police officer was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Pishin area on Tuesday.

Official sources said that some armed men entered the official residence of Police Sub-Inspector Malik Dost Muhammad Awan in Pishin town and opened fire, killing him on the spot.

“The police officer posted at the Pishin police station died on the spot after he suffered a bullet injury to his head,” a senior police officer said, adding the attackers escaped after the incident.

Police and FC personnel rushed to the area and took the body to the civil hospital for autopsy. Later, the body was handed over to family members.

The motive of the killing has not been determined so far.

No one has claimed responsibility for the killing.

Meanwhile, funeral prayers of the slain police officer was held at the Quetta Police Lines.

Inspector General of Balochistan Police Mohsin Hassan Butt, Additional IG Jahanzeb Khan Jogezai, DIG Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema, SSP Pishin Tariq Elahi Mastoi and a large number of police officials attended the funeral prayers.
