PESHAWAR: The US-Pakistan Centre for Advanced Studies in Energy (USPCAS-E) in collaboration with the department of civil engineering, University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, has successfully conducted a seismic analysis test at the varsity’s earthquake centre.

The prototype energy-efficient building is making use of low-cost energy-efficient materials for energy saving. This will not only save the energy by reducing energy bills but also keep the buildings resilient to earthquakes. The test provided useful information in the analysis of seismic behaviour of energy-efficient structures. The analysis and outcomes of the test will provide vital information for the professionals working in the field of energy and buildings, according to a statement issued here on Tuesday by the UET.

The test was a part of Applied Research Project of USPCAS-E.

Dr Khan Shahzada, associate professor, department of civil engineering, was the lead of the project, and Dr Khurshid Ahmad, head of department thermal system engineering at USPCAS-E, was the co-lead.

The USAID-funded USPCAS-E programme is a world-class education and applied research centre for energy that produces specialist human resource and technologies, and facilitates academia-industry collaboration and policy formulation to find sustainable solutions to country’s energy challenges.
