LAHORE: The Higher Education Department (HED) on Monday appointed Prof Dr Uzma Quraishi as vice chancellor of the Women University Multan.

Dr Quraishi also served as vice chancellor of Lahore College for Women University and was currently working as director Institute of Education of the LCWU.

According to a notification, “Pursuant to the recommendation submitted by the Search Committee constituted by the Higher Education Department, the Governor/ Chancellor has been pleased to appoint Prof Dr Uzma Quraishi, director Institute of Education of the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) as vice chancellor of the Women University Multan for a period of four years.”

She is directed to join within seven days of issuance of the notification otherwise next candidate in order of merit would be considered for the post.

She did her higher education from Cambridge University, Birmingham University and Manchester University.

Dr Quraishi has an extensive experience of administrative positions in public and private universities of Pakistan.

She has also worked as consultant to the international organisations such as Unesco.

She specialises in gender equity and higher education; therefore is well-versed in problems related to women empowerment and running complex educational institutions.

Moreover, Dr Quraishi has got a wide experience of working for the development of formal academic parameters in higher education with HEC.
