DETERIORATING civic conditions in Jacobabad, the city where I was born, have made the lives of citizens miserable. I revisited the place of my birth recently and came away saddened which have made me pen these lines.

Every road and street presents an unhealthy look because of the large heaps of garbage and filth to be found everywhere. That is not all. In many places choked sewerage drains are overflowing on to the roads giving off a foul stench that makes it difficult to breathe. Citizens have no option except to make their way through these heaps of filth to run their errands.

The devastated conditions of the roads and thoroughfares make driving an ordeal as it takes hours to complete a journey that should take a few minutes.

The non-availability of clean drinking water is another issue for the inhabitants of Jacobabad.

The district administration and local government officials are indifferent and people seem to have compromised with this situation. This is a request to the provincial government to save this city and its inhabitants as they can’t take any more of this neglect.
