FIA arrests Indian national with fake documents in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claims to have arrested an Indian national who had been living in Gujranwala on fake passport and documents for the last 10 years.

The agency also registered a case against the citizen who gave him shelter.

FIA Deputy Director Amir Nawaz told Dawn that Panjam Tiwari had gone to Dubai for work in 2009 and met Kamran, a resident of Gujranwala. They became business partners in Dubai and after some time, Kamran brought Panjam back to Pakistan on fake passport. The Indian national tied the knot with Kamran’s sister Rukhsana and embraced Islam, changing his name as Bilal.

He also made fake documents (birth certificate, CNIC, marriage deed etc) and started living in Pakistan, said Nawaz.

FIA Assistant Director Ahmer Sandhu, along with Inspector Naveed Ahmed and Sub-Inspector Shahzaib, raided a house at Mominabad and arrested Panjam. They registered a case against him as well as Kamran.

What about those who gave him bundle of fake documents, from birth certificate to passport, is there any accountability of those government officials , working in such sensitive departments, not only Indians , people from other nationalities too are living in Pakistan on fake documents. Implementation of laws is always an impossible task for our government, present or past one, all are same

@Farhan, We dont see similarities. One has been kidnapped from iran and called spy and other one converted into Bilal from Dubai and stayed back. Send Kulbushan back and keep Bilal. It will be better for him to stay in a country which practices and lives by his faith and belief

Hope we can rise above hate and stereotyping. Investigation is necessary but all actions do not have clandestine motives or just one meaning. Their approach was wrong but their intentions may not be criminal. Afterall lapse in system made it possible and now there are families involved.

It is said "All the world loves a lover" Of course is an "out of this world" country. so it does not apply to Pakistan, Aren't you the ones who so nostalgically recount the love stories of Heer-Ranjha, Laila-Majnoo, and Sassi Panoo? Either stop doing that or accept this as another classical love story too, don't tear it up. .As buleshah very famously sang: "Beshaq mandir masjid todo, Bulleshah ve kehta) - Par pyaar bhara dil kabhi na todo Is dil mein dilbar rehta So obviously since he was an illegal, he had to lie low and hide his real identity. He probably has children too. So for the sake of humanity, overlook his trespasses and let him stay with his Pakistani family.
