MARDAN: The girl students outshined boys by securing all the top three positions in the results of higher secondary school certificate examinations 2019, announced by Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Mardan on Tuesday.

The results were announced at a ceremony held at the auditorium hall of BISE Mardan.

Announcing the results, Rashid Gul, the controller of examinations, said that Syed Hafsa Shah of Tufail Shaheed Army College Mardan got first position by securing 1,007 marks.

He said that Ayesha Ashfaq of Ghazali College for Women Mardan grabbed second positions by getting 1,005 marks while Urooj Naz of Quaid-i-Azam Girls College Swabi stood third with 998 marks in the HSSC results.

All the top three position-holders belong to pre-medical group.

In pre-engineering group, Mohammad Ibrar Khan of Quaid-i-Azam College Swabi has obtained first position by securing 980 marks and Mehran Sahil of the same college stood second with 977 marks while Mahnoor Khizar Hayat of Ghazali College for Women Mardan got third position by getting 976 marks.

The general science group was topped by Gulalai Tariq of Peshawar Model Degree College for Girls Mardan by securing 940 marks and Samreen Shahid of Punjab College Kandar Nowshera achieved second position by getting 896 marks while Mohammad Zakarya of Peak College System Gulu Dheri, Swabi bagged third position by getting 892 marks.

In the humanities group, Sanam of Government Girls Degree College Takht Bhai with 913 marks obtained first position and Iram Sheeraz of Moon Light Public School and College Topi, Swabi stood second by getting 898 marks while Nayab Arshad of Government Girls Degree College Manki Swabi got third position by securing 892 marks.

Mr Gul said that total 12,917 candidates of pre-medical group appeared in the HSSC Part-II examinations and 11,491 were declared passed with overall percentage of 88.96.

In pre-engineering group, 4,824 of total 5,705 students were declared successful with overall percentage of 84.56.

Similarly in general science group 1,676 of 2,307 candidates were declared passed in the examinations with percentage of 72.65. In humanities group, 12,202 of total 18955 candidates were declared passed with overall percentage of 64.37.
