TAXILA: Three people, including two revenue department officials, were killed when a man from one party started firing on his rival and the revenue officials during demarcation of land in Langar village of Dharik union council here on Tuesday. The attacker then allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself.

According to Bhattar police station officials, there was a long running dispute over a piece of land between Amjad Jehandad and Noor Mohammad in Langar village. On Tuesday, Jehandad took the local revenue department officials, including Rafeeq Ahmed and Mohammad Yasir, for demarcation of the ‘disputed land’.

On seeing the opponent, his rival Noor Mohammad allegedly brought a gun from his house and showered bullets on him and two officials, killing them on the spot. Noor Mohammad later allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself.

After the incident, a police party rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to the rural health centre from where the bodies were taken to the tehsil headquarters hospital for autopsy.

Later, District Police Officer, Attock, Shahzad Nadeem Bokhari visited the crime scene to get first-hand knowledge about the incident. He also deployed additional police force in the area to avert any bloodshed in retaliation.

Bhattar police registered a case and have started investigations.
