THATTA: Highway blocked

THATTA, July 26: Activists of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz blocked the National Highway in Gharo town for about three hours on Tuesday. The traffic for upcountry and Karachi remained stranded, causing inconvenience to passengers as the activists blocked the highway by burning tyres.

They put stone boulders on a bridge and staged a sit-in on the highway passing amid Gharo town.

The bone of contention is a disputed plot in the Dhabeji mill area, of which one claimant is the Indus Jute Mill’s owner and the second is Adil Shah, an office-bearer of the JSQM.

On Sunday evening, the Dhabeji police registered an FIR gainst Nisar Khore, Irshad Khore, Adil Shah and a number of unidentified persons.

TPO Rashid Serai said police conducted raids to arrest the accused which annoyed party workers who took such a step to politicize the issue.
