LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed a factory and issued notices for bringing improvement to numerous food business operators during inspection of juice pulp manufacturing units in Punjab.

On Saturday, food safety teams visited six factories in Faisalabad division, two in Multan and four units in Sargodha. The PFA imposed a heavy fine on one unit and also asked seven FBOs to bring reforms to their working environment and production. The PFA is vigilantly monitoring all those food businesses which come under their jurisdiction.

PFA Director General retired Captain Muhammad Usman said the PFA sealed Oriental Fruits Factory manufacturing spurious fruit pulp for juices for using hazardous chemicals and loose and non-food grade colours. He said that the team also witnessed the usage of non-food grade drums for storage purpose. He said that the factory was also violating packaging rules. The PFA has vowed to make Punjab free of adulterated food as per the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. The PFA has appealed to citizens to prefer homemade food and buy ratified products from reliable stores.
