RAWALPINDI, Oct 14: The chairman of Pakistan Labour Party (PLP), Aashiq Bhatti, said a national government should be formed in the country to cope with the current volatile situation.

In a press statement issued here on Sunday, Mr Bhatti condemned the United States-led Coalition attacks on Afghanistan and termed it a genocide.

He was equally critical of the Muslim countries for what he called “criminal silence” over the killings of innocent Afghans.

He criticized the government and said it appeared that the generals lacked the ability of making policies in conformity with the wishes of the people.

Mr Bhatti said President Gen Pervez Musharraf was living under the deception that his rule was indispensable for the country and advised him to learn from the fate of other dictators.

He said it was weird that President Musharraf advocated for a government in Afghanistan in accordance with its demographic composition, but failed to give representation to the people of his own country.
