KARACHI: Bahria Club recorded the biggest upset of the tournament by defeating tournament favourites One Unit Club 51-42 in the ongoing SSB Shohada-e-Pakistan basketball tournament being organized by Pakistan Sports Welfare Association in collaboration Association at the International Abdul Nasir Arambagh court on Monday night.

Brilliant Aun Muhammad of the winning side was on the rampage on the courts and scored 25 points. He was well assisted by Mohsin Gujjar (15 points) and Taimur Shahid (10 points).

For the losing side, Tashfeen Zaidi scored (17 points) while Talal and Kashif Sarwri scored (10 points) each.

In the second match, Neighbourhood Cub beat Nishter Club with a big margin 47-38. Leading scorers for the winners were Chenway (15 points) and Raja Zahid (13 points) while Abdullah Khan scored 10 points.

For the losing side, Muhammad Shabbar scored 14 points while Haroon and Asad scored 10 points each.

Earlier, players of both teams were introduced to former Karachi basketball club captain Victor John who was the chief guest on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion he said he was impressed by the fine display of the players and termed it a good augury for the future of the basketball in the country. “Karachi has bright future in basketball and credit goes to KBBA for the promoting the game at grass root level”, he said.
