SANGHAR: Ten people, including nine members of a family, died when a Qingqi rickshaw collided head-on with a bus near Shahpur Chakar on Saturday.

A family hailing from Khadro town was going to Shahpur Chakar in a rickshaw when it collided head-on with a Sanghar-bound bus.

The family, comprising five women, three children and a man, was going to Shahpur to attend a relative’s function.

All passengers, including the driver of the rickshaw, died on spot. They were identified as Zubaida, Sadia, Shabnam, Sorraya, Aamir, Sagheer, Yasir, Naseem, Aasia and Alishba. The family belonged to the Khokhar community.

After the incident, locals including the police reached the spot and shifted the deceased to a rural health centre in Shahpur Chakar.

The bus also skidded off the road, leaving 24 passengers injured. They were shifted to the Peoples Medical University Hospital in Nawabshah and their condition was said to be out of danger.

The deceased were taken to Khadro town.
