Idrees, Nighat clinch archery titles

MURREE: POA president retired Lt Gen Arif Hasan distributes prizes among the contestants of World Olympics Day Archery Championship at Bhurban Stadium.

KARACHI: Army’s Idrees Majeed and Wapda’s Nighat Naheed won the men and women titles, respectively in the World Olympics Day Archery Championship which concluded at Bhurban Stadium in Murree on Friday.

The Punjab Archery Association (PAA) organised the two-day event in collaboration with the Punjab Sports Department.

Meanwhile, in Inter-division Punjab men and women events, Faisalabad’s Abdul Rehman and Multan’s Hina Mehtab claimed top spots.

During the closing ceremony, President Pakistan Olympic Association and PAA retired Lt Gen Arif Hasan along with secretary Wisal Khan and president Punjab Archery Association Manzar Fareed Shah distributed prizes among the participants.

Hafiz Abdul Rehman and Nouman Saqib secured second and third positions, respectively behind Idrees in the men’s event while Nabila Kausar and Umme Zahra claimed second and third positions, respectively behind Nighat.
