DERA GHAZI KHAN: Kala police have booked 15 people in a vani case.

Reports said 11-year-old Shagufta was made vani through a local jury in compensation for crime allegedly committed by her father Siddique of Mauza Shaban Machhi. Complainant Khadim had accused Siddique of developing relations with his wife and demanded marriage of the minor girl with one Fiyaz.

A punchayat was held under the supervision of one Musa and at least 15 elders took part in proceedings. Sources alleged that the girl was married off with Fiyaz, 13, on June 10.

The incident went viral on social media and the Dera Ghazi Khan regional police officer ordered action against the suspects.

Kala police have registered a case against 15 suspects under section 310A of Pakistan Penal Code and arrested nikahkhwan Nizam Din, father of girl Siddique and jury head Musa. Raids are under way to arrest 11 others.
