SWABI: Jamaat-i-Islami has announced to launch protest movement against price hike and unemployment in the country on June 16.

Talking to journalists here on Monday, JI chief Senator Sirajul Haq said that the protest movement would be kicked off in Lahore. He said that his party was forced to take the decision because price hike and unemployment made survival of people difficult.

Sirajul Haq was visiting the district to offer Fateha for the departed souls of three daughters of Faqir Zada. JI provincial chief Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan and other leaders of the party were also present on the occasion.

However, the JI chief did not explain that the protest would continue for how many days and whether they would also march on Islamabad or not. He said that PTI leaders had made numerous pledges with the people during the elections and none of those was fulfilled. “In fact, the life of people has been made miserable by their policies,” he said.

Siraj says PTI unable to run affairs of govt

He said that people were facing hardships as the country was confronting the worst economic crises. “The PTI leadership is responsible for the entire mess, highly perturbed economic scenario and confused environment prevail in the country,” he added.

Siraj said that the ruling party, in a very short span of time, proved that it could not run the government and that was the reason that JI leadership decided to launch the campaign against its policies.

He said that the unprecedented price hike, climbing inflation and unemployment of educated youth indicated that rulers failed to deliver. He added that the flawed policies had already harmed the country to a point of no return.

“There is urgent need of competent team to steer the country out of the crises. PTI did nothing except making tall but hollow claims,” he said. He added that devaluation of rupee against dollar continued unabated and Pakistani currency was the lowest one in the entire South Asian region.

Siraj said that PTI leadership deceived the people and JI wanted to get rid of the incompetent government as soon as possible. He said that the letter written by provincial government for delaying elections in the tribal districts was unconstitutional.
