GWADAR: A senior official of the Fisheries Department and two members of his family were killed and nine others injured as a vehicle they were travelling in overturned near Sardasht area of Gwadar district on Sunday.

According to police, Mr Tahir Peshkani, assistant director in the Fisheries Department, was going to Karachi in an official vehicle.

When the vehicle reached near Sardasht tehsil, one of its tyres burst because of overspeeding and as a result the vehicle overturned, leaving three people dead and nine others injured.

Those who died in the accident were identified as Mr Tahir Peshkani, Ms Waheeda, wife of Mohammad Arif, and her minor son Bidar.

Members of security forces rushed to the area of the accident and took bodies and the injured to a nearby health facility. The injured were later taken to a hospital in Karachi in private vehicles as no ambulance was available in the hospital.

Mr Tahir Peshkani was also a prominent singer of Balochi language.
