LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly has been moved against Federal Climate Change Minister Zartaj Gul for using her official position to get a lucrative posting for her sister.

A resolution submitted by the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Azma Zahid Bukhari has demanded action against the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf minister under Article 62 of the Constitution.

The resolution said that Federal Minister Zartaj Gul misused her office as she politically influenced the federal interior secretary by writing a letter to him to get her sister Shabnum Gul appointed as director of the all important National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).

It said the appointee, Shabnum Gul, has neither experience nor research to her credit in anti-terrorism as she is assistant professor, who could not complete her PhD even in nine years.

The mover of the resolution feared that appointment of an inexperienced woman as head of an important agency like NACTA might affect the performance of the institution.

She demanded immediate disqualification of Zartaj Gul by initiating action against her under Article 62(1)f of the Constitution.

Meanwhile, another PML-N MPA has submitted a resolution against faulty auto-telling machines (ATMs).

She said that with the advent of Eidul Fitr, ATMs of almost all banks have begun developing faults, while there are long queues outside banks to draw their money to the inconvenience of account-holders.

She demanded the authorities concerned to take notice and direct all bank administrations to get their respective ATMs repaired so that the people could easily draw their money.
