GILGIT, July 19: Security officials rounded up dozens of suspects on Tuesday in connection with a reprisal attack and murder on Monday night. The names of the suspects have not been disclosed but, according to a source, their number was thought to be around 24. A search operation was mounted in Amphary and Alamdar neighbourhoods of Gilgit city on Monday night after some unknown persons killed Waris in a reprisal attack for Sunday’s killings on the Karakoram Highway.

Four passengers were gunned down in Sunday’s attack.

The paramilitary forces launched the operation on Monday night by cordoning off the localities and beginning a house-to-house search.
