BUNER: Another woman fell prey to the menace of honour killing in Goga Hissar village of Daggar on Tuesday night, taking the toll to three in the last eight days, police said.

The victim, 22, mother of two minor children, was allegedly shot dead by her brother-in-law inside her house. The culprit fled the area after the murder, SHO Daggar Khalid Khan said.

He said a police party rushed to the crime scene soon after receiving a phone call, and found the body of the woman lying in a pool of blood. The body was shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Daggar, for autopsy, where doctors said she was shot dead, the SHO said. Later, the body was handed over to parents for burial.

The police officer said a case had been registered against the accused and investigation started.

SHO Khalid Khan said as per statements of the mother-in-law and sister-in-law of the deceased, she was killed over exchange of hot words with the alleged killer.

But the police suspected she was killed for honour. He said the victim’s husband and father-in-law were in Malaysia.

It is pertinent to mention here that this is the third incident of honour killing in Buner district during the last eight days.

Earlier, body of an 18-year-old girl of Elai village was found in Mashwani area on last Tuesday. Her brother was arrested for killing her for honour.

The second incident of honour killing took place in Ambela village of Nawagai on Monday, when the police recovered the body of a 19-year-old girl from her grandparents’ home.

The victim had solemnised court marriage, which did not go down well with her relatives.
