KOHAT: The city police on Wednesday busted a three-member gang of robbers belonging to Kurram and Swabi districts.

DSP city Alamzeb told journalists that they received a complaint of robbery from a rickshaw driver who was looted by armed men near Pehalwan Banda.

He said a police team stopped a suspicious motorcycle with three riders. Upon checking they recovered Rs18,000 cash and a mobile set besides two pistols from their possession, he said, adding they were named Mohammad Ishfaq and Mohammad Kamran, residents of Swabi, and Fazal Mehmood hailing from Kurram. They were taken to the police station where the rickshaw driver identified them.

The police officer said the robbers were presented in a court which gave them into police custody.

Meanwhile, the city police raided a house in Mohallah Waizan and arrested six persons while gambling. Stake money and cards were also seized.

NCP VEHICLES SEIZED: Hangu police seized five non-custom paid cars being taken from Kurram tribal district to down country near Thall tehsil on Wednesday.

The cars were stopped in the jurisdiction of Doaba police station in Shawalgada area by a team headed by DSP Shaukat Ali. However, the drivers fled leaving behind the cars which were impounded. DPO Ehsanullah Khan said 8kg of hashish was also found in one of the cars.

A case was registered against the drivers at the Doaba police station.
