KARACHI: The Anti-corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) of the Pakistan Cricket Board is looking to expand its role in the PCB-approved private tournaments.

An official, aware of the development, said that the ACSU would educate participating players and relevant officials in events from the next season.

“Similar to top Twenty20 leagues around the world, the ACSU of the PCB will deliver lectures to participating players and officials prior to the next season,” the official added.

In this connection, an official of the PCB anti-corruption and security unit’s recently visited the ongoing PCB-approved Ramazan T20 cricket events, in Karachi, to oversee the arrangements made by tournaments’ organisers.

“From the next season, the list of participating players and officials will also be scrutinised by the ACSU, prior to issuing the NOC,” the official concluded

Meanwhile the PCB spokesperson threw further light on the idea, saying that the practice would be in the benefit of all stakeholders.

“Ramazan cricket is a growing brand in which organisers pump in a lot of money and it attracts all sorts of people too so it is important for PCB, organisers and players to keep such events foul free,” the PCB spokesperson said “It is in the benefit of everyone involved in cricket,” the spokesperson concluded.
