LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday released its verdict on a petition challenging bail granted to son of PPP leader Samina Khalid Ghurki in a cheque dishonouring case.

A sessions court had allowed pre-arrest bail to Sufyan Khalid Ghurki in a case lodged by Model Town police.

Mian Faisal Rasheed, the complainant in the case, accused Mr Ghurki of giving him a bogus cheque of Rs5m as an installment against a total due payment of Rs152m. The complainant had challenged the sessions court’s bail to the accused before the high court.

Justice Waheed Khan had heard the petition and allowed it on May 7, setting aside the pre-arrest bail granted by the sessions court. Its verdict has been released now.

It is to mention that Mr Ghurki had fled from the courtroom after the bail dismissal order on the same day when it was cancelled.
