LAHORE: As many as 165 power distribution feeders tripped due to thunderstorm, leaving many parts of Lahore and adjoining districts without electricity for hours on Monday.

Reports said the thunderstorm disrupted electricity supply in Gulberg, Johar Town, Raiwind, Shahdra, Babu Sabu, Bund Road, Jail Road, Township, Ferozepur Road and some parts of Kasur and Sheikhupura.

According to Lesco, thunderstorm caused tripping of 11kV feeders, leaving various areas without light with temporary power suspension. “However, the teams gradually succeeded in energising various feeders after the intensity of thunderstorm weakened,” said an official.

Earlier, Lahore and some other parts of Punjab witnessed moderate to heavy rain on Monday, breaking the spell of heatwave.
