CHARSADDA: An assistant sub-inspector and a proclaimed offender were killed and two other policemen were injured during a raid on a hideout of the outlaws in Palai Korona area of Sadda Pull in Tangi here on Wednesday.

Police post Ganderi’s ASI Mohabbat Shah along with two constables raided a hideout in Palai Korona after a tip-off that a group of proclaimed offenders was present there.

As the police entered the house for arrest of the POs the criminals opened indiscriminate fire on police. As a result, Mohabbat Shah was killed on the spot, while elite force constables identified as Tauseef Ahmed and Musawir were seriously injured. They were shifted to a hospital in Peshawar.

The deceased PO was wanted to police in a 2011 murder case.

The police soon after the incident cordoned off the area and started a search operation.

Soon after the incident, district police officer Irfanullah, DSP Tangi and tehsil nazim Yahya Jan Mohmand reached the site.

Later, the deceased ASI’s funeral prayers were offered at the police lines. Provincial minister for law and parliamentary affairs Sultan Mohammad Khan, DIG Mardan Mohammad Ali Gandapur, DPO Irfanullah, deputy commissioner Adil Shah, and others participated in the funeral.

Meanwhile, a woman and her son were shot dead over a property dispute in Station Korona area on Monday.

According to police, a daughter of deceased woman, wife of Rizwanullah, reported to the police that they were in their house when accused, Sajjad, who is her cousin and brother-in-law, came in and opened fire on her mother and brother, Saifullah, killing them on the spot. The accused managed to escape after the incident.
